The Mentorship
The Mentorship
Pender Island Mentorship for Artists (PIMA) is an opportunity to work alongside with, and receive mentorship from, artist Jay Senetchko, while being immersed in a beautiful semi-rural setting. Pender Island and The Studio provide easy access to the natural surroundings of forest and ocean, as well as all of the amenities (stores, restaurants, WiFi, movies, etc.) for comfortable living.
The physical, creative and intellectual resources of The Studio, along with the beauty and tranquility of the natural surroundings makes for an engaging and potentially transformative experience.
The Studio.
The studio and workroom comprise the majority of the lower level and have all the infrastructure necessary for 2-3 artists specializing in drawing and painting mediums to work, prepare and engage with each other.
The Work Room has all the tools necessary for the creation and preparation of painting/drawing related surfaces.
The Artist
With over 20 years of private and institutional instructional experience, and an international exhibition history that is just as lengthy, Jay Senetchko has a wide range of of knowledge to share on subjects such as: painting (watercolour and oil) and drawing, anatomy and figurative work, perspective and composition, art history and philosophy, colour theory and application processes, as well as film and art theory.
The Program
While all artists and forms of expression/exploration are welcome, PIMA will be most useful for those looking to develop or deepen their understanding and skill with respect to the techniques of Realism. As such, applicants focusing on realism in their practice will be given priority.
