Where's Warhol Mural
In 2017 Phantoms in the Front Yard participated in the 3rd Annual Vancouver mural Festival, tackling a 210' by 30' western wall of the Recycling Depot on the corner of Ontario and 7th Avenue. The festival has enjoyed enormous popularity and success since its inception, and offered PITFY an opportunity to take their work directly to the public by providing an outdoor forum to not only display, but to also interact. The task was monumental, requiring more than 700 working hours spread across the group members and festival volunteers to complete.
It was a truly collaborative effort, with each member contributing to the overall design by providing sketches from their own private work, or creating new drawings specifically for the wall. The individual sketches were then collaged together to create a chaotic organization of people, places, animals and things that have come to represent a place of importance in each PITFY member's experience, and reflect their experience in the craziness of the Artworld.
